From South Africa to U.S. College Field Hockey

Amy Rossam joined BRUSA Sports from St Dunstan’s College in Johannesburg, South Africa. Her goal was to continue playing field hockey while studying at a university in the United States.

Working together, BRUSA Sports supported Amy throughout her U.S. university recruitment. We helped showcase her ability to coaches and identify suitable opportunities. As a result, Amy secured a field hockey scholarship to attend Wingate University in North Carolina.

There, Amy joined the Wingate Bulldogs women’s field hockey team and began her U.S. college journey.

Freshman Season at Wingate University

Amy made her collegiate debut for Wingate during the 2024 season. She appeared in nine games during her freshman campaign and earned one start.

Her 2024 season included:

• Appeared in nine games
• Earned one start
• Recorded four shots
• Registered one shot on goal against Limestone
• Earned selection to the NFHCA Division II National Academic Squad

In addition, Amy’s academic recognition demonstrated her commitment beyond the field.

Academic Success

During her freshman year, Amy earned a place on the NFHCA Division II National Academic Squad.

This achievement recognises student-athletes who combine college field hockey with strong academic performance. Therefore, Amy’s first season demonstrated her commitment to both areas of university life.
